i read about german moreno being in-charge of giving out "stars" to accomplished actors/entertainers in the philippine showbiz circle - and a new batch was now named.

i learned that ruffa gutierrez was one of the recipients of the prestigious "stars" - let me ask this: WHY? what are her so-called accomplishment that are worth mentioning? does she have an acting talent or award? does she exemplify good example to the local entertainment scene? oh, i would really love to know why ... aren't you curious?

yung ibang tao sa pilipinas, or to some filipinos, they hang on to one motto: I LOVE MY OWN!
if i remember it right, this "i love my own"-attitude is bourne of the filipinos' wrong interpretation of the national song translated into english which goes:
"i love my own my native land - philipippines my philippines"
yung mga bata noon who were introduced to this version forgot the rest of the lyrics - yung "I LOVE MY OWN" lang yung na-recall.
so, as a result, look at what has happened sa pilipinas - in politics, in showbiz and in everyday life - the new generation of filipinos ngayon puro sarili lang ang iniisip, everything else is wala silang pakialam.
examples sa showbiz at pulitika:
si lolit solis - wala syang paki na sirain ang puri ni sam at piolo
si ruffing - wala syang paki kahit na alam nyang kasinungalingan ang mga sinasabe nya basta lang mapag-usapan sya.
nanay ni ruffing na si inday annabelle - wala syang paki kung imoral sa ibang tao ang mga ginagawa nya basta ang importante sa kanya ay ang kapalit na pera sa "trabaho" nya
TV-networks - wala silang paki kung mga immoral ang artista nila basta lang kumikita sila ng maraming pera
the RP president GMA - walang paki kahit na anupang boycott or clamour for her to step down - yung title nya gusto nya "forever"
yung ibang pinoy - walang paki kahit niloloko ng harap-harapan, mapa-pulitika or showbiz - ang attitude nila "bahala na ang Dios sa kanila" - kahit papaano na-entertain sila sa mga kabulastugan ng marami in their midst.

the problem is-- fiipinos have tunnel vision-- as having that attitude??? Phil is actually behind everybody-- not even in the running-- all other countries esp in s east asia have moved forward & Phil have regressed to oblivion..Phil is sad & pathetic,really.
here in US- I get all these different Asian cable channels & they have shows about different countries & rarely Phil--one thing that stood out all others even Indonesia have ancient buddhist temples that were built almost a thousands yrs ago--Java has some ancient ruin preserved in pristine condition that can be older than Ankor Wat in Cambodia.
shoot! Phil cannot even boast of one lame buddist temple!!!! I feel so cheated!!! as what does this mean???? one thing for sure-- before the spaniards came-- phil or even as tribal islands-- phil never had any sort of civilisation going on--it was primitive. even so called filipio food is watered,very primitive version of other countries.

Indonesia have a richer culture than Phil-- they were colonised too by europeans but they are/were proud of it & infused what the Portuguese & Dutch to their own culture-- then there's India etc-- & their food is so rich with different influences that t hey made their own-- wonderful!
they still have the steam train system brought by the Europeans-- & what does the Phil have to s how for her spanish heritage? hardly anything. Mostly in ruins or in bad state of repair-- hell, with this Taglish.. I am watching Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan having totally spoken in english tv sit coms-- & cute,too.
Plus, even in the boondocks-- these c ountries have one of the most modern high way systems in the world-- Vietnam is now being rebuilt for tourism & getting so modern-- foreign investors injecting major money. Phil?? shoot the world bank won't even give a loan afraid the funds will be pocketed by greedy politicians!
Phil ???? not good. so many flips in US & still not really integrated in the fabric of American culture. Everyone else is.
filipinos are generally looked down on by other Asians-- I know, as they meet me with warmth & asked where I was borne-- I'd say Manila-- they cannot believe it to say-- they don't see me as Filipnia. & adding surely-- not pure. we shall see-- & another show I watch is THE FINER SIDE-- FROM SINGAPORE-- I tell you their rich live even more luxe & they have a way about them-- which I never see with Flips-- wh is so contrived & usually just a fascade --trying so hard.

by the way these shows are all conducted in englsih- & the host/hostess are Asian-- they speak in fuent english even with a British accent & their choices of words very articulate-- when I lived in Phil as kid-- Phil was known for this-- now??? geez! hardly,isn't it? all that taglish corrupted the ability & one's capacity to 'think' & be fluent in english when speaking-- I notice..

md, I don't really see anything good about it. The story is lame, Ruffa's acting can make anyone suicidal, and it made Iza Calzado and Marian Rivera seems tasteless in choosing a movie and talentless on this movie. It was just so wrong in every way you look at it.
It's just too bad that there are Pinoys who would actually care for this movie. This just shows everyone why Philippines is so far behind every other small countries in Asia the past few years.
